SOWN Member's Meeting and Community Planting

You are invited to two SOWN events this coming weekend.

SOWN Member's Meeting on Friday

The next SOWN Member's Meeting is on this Friday night. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Time: Friday 16 September at 6.00 pm.

Place: Twahamwe Cottage, 57 Paten Road The Gap.

SEQ Water will be attending to discuss our future relationship. Our two speakers are:

* Leigh Gould, PhD candidate, Australian Rivers Institute, Griffith University.
Topic: Non-native riparian vegetation and its effects on aquatic macro-invertebrate community composition. So do these aliens help or hinder the health of our waterways?

* Leo Lee, SOWN President and research student, Griffith University.
Topic: Results of the Enoggera Creek Health Monitoring Program and the future of the program, including how we can improve the participation and results of the survey

SOWN Community Planting on Sunday

We need SOWN members and the community to come along and help at our next community planting on Sunday 18 September at 8:30 am. Tools will be provided.

The planting site is just upstream of the bridge where Jubilee Terrace crosses Ithaca Creek at Ashgrove.

Queensland Urban Utilities (QUU) have offered SOWN a donation of $1000 if we conduct the planting and care of a site that was recently subject to some pipeline maintenance.

Leo will conduct one of our famous SOWN BBQ morning teas after the planting.
