SOWN Timber Expo - Volunteers needed

The SOWN Timber Expo at Yoorala Street is coming up in June and looking to be an exciting event. We are looking for volunteers who can help with planning and preparation leading up to and on Expo Day. Volunteers are needed to help with tasks including:

  • Event planning
  • Promotion
  • Art Union
  • Bump-In. Bump-Out
  • Signage & Site Decoration
  • Catering
  • Kids Art & activities area
  • Waste Management Crew
  • Entertainment

Yarrabee Road community planting day

As part of the Enhanced Land Force project underway at the Gallipolli Army Barracks Enoggera, planting has started of up to 13,500 local native tube-stock along the Base boundary on Yarrabee Road.

Members are invited to join a community planting day as part of the initiative. Details around the date and time for the community planting will be posted on the SOWN events calendar soon.

Invasive Species Survey

The Invasive Species Council is seeking survey participants to create a picture on what is being done across the country regarding invasive species. Go to the following web address to participate:

Fish Creek Working Bee on Saturday April 20th at 3pm

As part of their 'Plastic Pollution Revolution' Healthy Waterways has given SOWN funding to winch out hard waste & building materials dumped in Fish Creek. Join in by attending a community working bee to clean up the creek and spot larger waste with SOWN & BRAIN on Saturday April 20th. Starting at 3pm we will meet at the far end of Glenella Street at the Reserve. SOWN will provide bags for collection, gloves, rakes and some light refreshments. Bring enclosed shoes, a hat, sunscreen water bottle and a friend. See you there!
