Manihot grahamii urgently needed

Biosecurity Queensland has put out a desperate plea for Manihot grahamii Ornamental Tapioca plants.

Dr K. Dhileepan the Principal Entomologist at Biosecurity Queensland is working on biological control of bellyache bush Jatropha gossypiifolia, a major Queensland weed and also a weed of national significance.

"We are desperately looking for Manihot grahamii (a plant regarded by many as a weed) to be sent to CABI UK for host specificity testing of Jatropha rust as a biological control agent for bellyache bush.

"I would very much appreciate, if your members could help us to get these plants," Dr Dhileepan said.

He needs about 10 plants of this species.
