Thousands of reasons to get bushcaring

This is a small eNews with a very big announcement. We are delighted to be able to tell you SOWN was successful with grants for ITHACA INTACT as follows:

  • Perpetual (Late Harold Edward Corbould Estate) $79,330
  • Queensland Department of Environment and Resource Management $58,938

This means we can resume Ithaca Intact, the first and second year of which have already been funded from a number of sources including Brisbane City Council and the Queensland State Government. The third year of the project includes the production and publication of a handbook for local residents with creek in their backyard, as well as wages for an Ithaca Intact Coordinator.

We are now calling for expressions of interest for the position of Ithaca Intact Coordinator from suitably qualified people with experience in urban environmental restoration and community engagement.

The position is currently planned to be full-time for 35 weeks, starting early September 2010. Exact duration may be subject to change.

Expressions of interest should contain a brief cv, a brief statement outlining what you hope to achieve over the duration of the project, and address the following criteria:

Demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience in:

  • urban bushcare, and environmental management especially restoration of waterways
  • community liaison and engagement including environmental education
  • liaison with schools, other community groups, local business, corporate volunteers and stakeholders from all levels of government
  • project planning, reporting and grant acquittal
  • botanical knowledge, especially of the Enoggera Catchment

Above all, keep your expression of interest as brief and concise as possible.
