Dragonflies of Brisbane - Sun 18 November
Brisbane Forest Park on Sun 18 November 2007, 10:30am - 12:30pm
A 2 hour explore with Ric Nattrass, author of the recently published Field Guide to Dragonflies and Damselflies of South east Queensland.
This activity will explore the lives and loves of dragonflies a truly unique order of insects. These flamboyant, fierce, flying marvels are now taking the world by storm. Bring your net for catch, id and release.
Cost: $10 per activity to members of the general public, free for BCC Bushcare, Habitat and Catchment group members.
If you would like laminated plant labels (advertising SOWN on the back) you can pick them up from the Nursery. Most of the species commonly in the nursery are represented, plus some important dry rainforest remnant species.
The labels give the common name, scientific name, and a description with notes on garden use, habitat use, and other special features.
These labels are great for people walking through bushcare sites who want to know what plants they are seeing, and why they have been planted.
The labels were made with the help of countless volunteer hours (thanks Heather!) so please get some for your site to make this effort worthwhile.
Make sure to tie the biggest loop possible and use a lateral branch so as not to strangle the tree years down the track.
The new opening hours are 9-11am on Saturdays and 8am-12noon on Wednesdays. The nursery will be closed over Christmas and New Year. The roster is as follows:
Sat 24th Nov 2007 - Michelle Walker
Nursery is closed Dec 22, 29, 2007 and 5th Jan 2008 and resumes...
Sat 12th Jan 2008 - Dawn Whyte
Have you got your Weeds Calendars yet? We really need our members to pitch in to help make this a SOWN Christmas, because we first have to cover the printing costs and then make some money for SOWN activities.
