SOWN and BRAIN are celebrating National Tree Day by joining with The Gap Soccer Club to plant a section of Enoggera Creek adjacent to The Gap Soccer Club, Glenaffric Street, The Gap. The event will run from 10am to 12am on Sunday 29th July. Site access is via the Pastime Club Car Park. Glenaffric is the first street on the left after crossing Walton Bridge, heading from town to wards the Gap Village Shopping Centre. If you get to the lights near the Coffee Club, you've gone too far!
If there is only one planting you attend this year, make this the one. It will be only two hours, followed by a sausage sizzle, and it's on a lovely stretch of creek, recently weeded and mulched. We will be infill planting, right on the creek banks.
The site was originally planted some years ago. There are lots of beautiful mature trees but few shrubs and smaller plants. BRAIN members will lead a botanical work through the planting tagging out key rainforest species.
This is a great opportunity for BRAIN and SOWN members to get together. Please mark it in your diary and we'll see you there.
Turn up on the day with a hat, covered shoes, a trowel and a smile! Planting will be followed by a sausage sizzle.
