Celebrate National Tree Day (NTD) on Sunday 2 August
Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, National Tree Day community activities have been scaled back this year. SOWN is encouraging our members and supporters to celebrate NTD in various ways.
* Plant a Tree on Facebook
Why not plant a local native tree from SOWN in your own backyard or beside your local creek? Snap a photo of you and the tree and post it on Facebook and tag SOWN on social media.
* Create Art for an Exhibition
SOWN is joining with Paten Park Native Nursery (PPNN) to encourage students, parents and members to create some artwork on the theme of "What Trees Mean to Me!". This could be a drawing, a photograph or a construction. Drop your masterpiece down to PPNN (beside SOWN) before 2 August. The first 100 exhibitors will receive a free native plant.
* Bushcare at Ashgrove Sports Ground
Get your hands dirty and join Dean for some weeding and planting at Ashgrove Sports Ground from 8am to 10am on Sunday 2 August. Access is off Yoku Road, Ashgrove. Park behind the Bowls Club and look out for a SOWN banner. Please bring weeding tools, gloves and water.
Happy National Tree Day!
