Resources - Running Bamboo

Bamboo

Running Bamboo, another problem weed common in the City, also has many uses. Bamboo flooring, bowls, boards and textiles are gaining popularity as a sustainable alternative to slower-growing timbers.

Bamboo has also traditionally been used in Asia for edible shoots (some species), food, crafts, structural timbers, weaving & pulp. As a resource for children's craft it has almost endless potential. Some uses include:

Kite & paper lantern frames
Garden Stakes (make sure they are dry first or you'll plant a forest!)
Furniture
Rafts
Fences (think Japanese gardens)
Fishing Poles
Carved culm lanterns & pencil holders
Flutes
Weapons (archery & some types of Asian Martial Arts)
