Thankyou Arthur Gorrie

Arthur Gorrie Correctional Centre is a prison located on the Ipswich Motorway at Wacol in the western suburbs of Brisbane managed by The GEO Group Australia. It is the primary remand centre for the South East Queensland region. The centre's philosophy is 'Building Better Lives' which focuses on providing prisoners with an opportunity for self improvement and social reparation " Giving back to the community

As part of the 'industry program' SOWN has joined with Habitat Brisbane and The GEO Group Australia introducing bushcare to the correctional centre and on 11 July 2011 received the first of many potentially larger shipments of plants, 2164 tube stock, of which 1760 were much needed Lomandras. The shipment included a very cute green tree frog, along for the ride.

The guys at Arthur Gorrie have propagated and grown on thousands of plants including Acacia spp., Eucalyptus spp, Carex spp. and Lomandra spp. They are looking forward to more challenging tasks now that they have expanded the nursery space five-fold.
