Usually cream to light brown with faint stripes running lengthways, these spiders do not build webs to catch prey; they are ambush hunters. They were once grouped with Thomisidae but they have been found to be not closely related to this family. The cephalothorax and abdomen are both relatively long, the abdomen being almost cigar shaped in some species. All legs are relatively slender and have claw tufts at their ends. World wide there are over 500 species but only a few have been described from Australia.
